Specialist Pathway Fri 13/05/11

Today we were with James. I showed him my new website design and he said that he delighted with it. He also said it looks better and nicer than the previous one. I also showed him my football fixtures and he showed me how to do the table on InDesign. At the end of the day I nearly finish everything. What I need to do just writing an evaluation and report for my work placement.

Today I spoke to James and Malcolm about my work project. I showed them my stationery set and website design. James help me and gave me some advice with stationery set and Malcolm help me with Work placement letter and questionnaire. Also there are something that I need to develop and changes. First thing is my website design. I need to make it looks better and more stylish. The second thing is my football fixture design which I need to do it in InDesign not on Illustrators and final thing I need to develop is my stationery set. I need to put text in the right order and sort out the text size as well.

Today is the first day we came back from Easter Break. I've done some development of my stationery set design ideas and some marketing items. Then I showed it to Malcolm and some of my work he said it's work well and some of it I need to improve. After I done stationery set design and marketing items, I need to think about website design as the time is running short. I need to get it done and ready to hand it in on 17 May.

Today we were with Malcolm and I talk to him about my stationery set research and he told me to go to Brower Ashton to look at some book over there as they having more book which I could look at. Also I need to do five artist that inspired me as well.

I was talking to James about my stationery set ideas and James say I need to look at the website called www.segura.com, which I found very useful and also I found some interesting stuff on that website. What I need to do now just find some book for my research and get some ideas off from that book as much as I can. Then start design my stationery set.

We were with Malcolm today. I talked to Malcolm again about my Football team kits and he quite happy with it. Then he asked me to arrange the layout of my football kits again. After I did that then I started doing my research for stationery set.

Today we were with James. I talk to him about my final football logo and my football kits design. He said to me that home and away kit should have similar design. So I did for the home design also apply my design to the away kit and changing the colour to white. At the end of the day I have make my decision to choose my final design for my team football kits.

We got Website presentation with Oli this morning. I did it on PowerPoint and also I showed my website that I've done to the class. After my presentation I felt like I need to improve a bit on my gallery page as I don't have any information of each images. So i need to add that on my gallery page.

We were with Malcolm this morning and I talked to him about my logo. He asked me to improve a bit on my logo. also I did some design on my football kits and Malcolm suggested me to get to logo done and then apply it on the kits. Also he said I need to make a decision before friday and he wanted to see my stationery set by next Tuesday.

Today we were with Oli, but we having Rob from Rolls Royce company came and talk to us about the logo of the company and his portfolio. Then he looked at each person portfolio. But I didn't take my portfolio with me so I missed out my chance of letting him look at my portfolio. Then after that we were with Oli and tried to complete my website before the presentation next wednesday. At the end of the day I managed to completed my website though.

We were with Malcolm today and I still continue doing my football logo. Also I did research on my football kit as well. So as soon as I get my logo done, I could apply to the kit straight away. Today I just played around with the name of the club and tried to put it in the right place.

Today we were with James and I talked to him about my logo. He gave me some advice in what I should improve and develop on which I found very helpful and my logo is nearly there to the final one.

Today we were with Malcolm doing our presentation for SP4 project. I felt it very good presentation as I got lots of feed back and some ideas from others. For my Sp4 project I think I need to speed up a bit as I spent too much time on my logo and I got lots of other stuff to do after I got my logo done.

Today we were with James. I felt like I've done a lot of work today as I nearly got my final design of my logo. James was talking to me and gave me advice in what I should improve for my eagle on my logo. He said that he didn't like the tail and the wings should be longer. So developed on that and at the end I got it right. Then I tried them in the shield to see which shape is suit for my eagle and I got the one that I like and I think it go really well with an eagle as well. Now I need to think about how am I going to put the text on my logo.

Specialist Pathway Tue 01/03/11

Today we just came back from Reading week and Malcolm remind us about the SP4 presentation for next week. Also he was talking to me about my logo design which I still didn't get the right eagle for my logo yet. Malcolm gave me advice and ideas and help me making a decision which one I should move on. I picked out 2 designs and developed it on it and now I feel like it's getting close to the one I want now.

We were with James today and he was talking to me about my logo which I found very useful. He gave to some advices and ideas on my logo design and what I need to improve on my logo as well. So I took his advice and tried to develop it to make it looks better. But at the end of the day I still think that I haven't got the right eagle for my logo yet. So I need to do that during the reading week.

We were with Oli today morning. We just continued with our website project. Oli said the website have to be done the week after the reading week as we have to do presentation on that week. Also we need to have RollOver some where on the website as well, to see you're understanding of how to do Rollover.

Today we were with Malcome and he introduced us to the presentation for SP4 project. The presentation will start at 9:15am on the second week we come back from Reading week. Then he was talking to me about my eagle for the football logo, which I felt that I still have to work on it and try to get it right soon.

Today we were with James. I showed him my research and initial ideas which he felt some of it work quite well and some aren't that well. Also he give me some advice and ideas in term of eagle in the logo should be. So I tried that ideas and different ideas i got from my head as well.

Today we went to Bower Ashton and one of their graphic design's stuff was talking about the third year at UWE and what are they expect from us in term of research and outcome of the work. Then he showed us some of their student's work and research they did. There will be a lot of work in the third year, just like you are working in industry.

Today we were with Malcolm, he reminded us about tomorrow at Bower Ashton. Then he was talking to me about my football logo research and about my ideas. He said I should do more research for eagles. Then I will get more ideas and better design for this logo.

We were with James today and we continuing with our own project. James was giving me advices about how my logo design would be and what images I could put into my logo. Also he asked me to look at Rugby teams logo as well, which I found it quite useful and some of their logos are very interesting.

We were with Oli for our web design today morning. Today Oli teach us how to do Roll Over on your web page, which I found very difficult to do. As I felt it quite complicated and too confusing to understand. But I need to understand and when I go back home I need to try it again and again to get used to it.

Today we were with Malcolm, He talked to me about the SP4 project and also he gave me some ideas of what I need to do for my research. He say I need to looked at American Football, Basketball and other sport's logo and see what style did they use. As sport teams in America their logos quite a good example to look at because it looks modern and updated. If you compare to English football logos, which most of them based on their traditional and culture style.

Today we were having our result back for SP3 from James. He was talking to me individually and he said I need to involve with the class a bit more as some time I was too quiet. He also said he understand that English is not my first language. It means that my level of comprehension within the subject area is significantly affected. I need to have my own ideas design a bit more rather than take an advice from James, Oli or Malcolm and did just what they been asked me to do. But at the end I quite happy with my result which I passed.

Today we were with Oli, and we were continuing with our website project. Today he tough us how to do slide on web page, which I found quite complicated and difficult to do. Also I didn't make my web design folders correctly from last week, so I need to make it right by redo everything again on Dreamweaver, which wasn't that hard for me.

We were with Malcolm today and Malcolm asked me how am I going to do my research for my SP4 project and he suggested me to look at other sport such as American Football, Baseball and Basketball of their history background and bring it to English football. So I'll be able to have more option to design my football team logo though. So firstly I'll go to my football club and asked more information about the logo and club history for my research.

Today we were with James and we were talking about writing our own brief for SP4. I decided to redesign a football team for my SP4 project and the team that I'm going to do is the team that I play for, called Clifton St Vincents FC. After I showed my brief to James, he said that I need to added more history of the club into it. So I did research about the club and added it into my SP4 brief.

Today morning we were with Malcolm and he introduced us to Portfolio Tutorials. My tutorials start from 9 February. Then we had Oli after that which Oli asked us to put our website together and made them on Dreamweaver. Also he asked us to finish it before next Wednesday.

Today is our first day back from assessment week. Malcolm was introduce us to Specialist Pathway 4 ,about writing our own project. He asked us to started writing a draft project and show it to James on Friday. Then on Tuesday morning he will introduce us to Portfolio Tutorial.

Today we had presentation with James on Penguin Book Cover. I was the first person to presented the work and James told me that I could do better by experiment more on typeface I used and change colour of background. Also if I add more butterflies in different size would be better. So after my presentation I went back and developed them over the weekend to make it looks better. Now I got my final design in gray background, added more butterflies in different size and colour in and changed typeface to Baskerville Italic which I think it looks much better than the previous design I've done.

Specialist Pathway Wed 05/01/11

Today morning we were with Malcolm again. I've done some development for my book cover design, so I showed it to him and he said to me I should play around with this typeface a bit more. He also said this typeface would work well if I arrange it in the right place. Then after he gave me some advice I've done some more design and I think it could the one I will use for my final book cover. Then after that we were with Oli for identity project. I've done all my design on my website, so what I need to do now is print it out on A1 paper, and ready for hand in for next week.

Specialist Pathway Tue 04/01/11

We just came back from half term break and this morning we were with Malcolm. Malcolm just tell us all the things we need to hand in for next week. Then he was talking to me about "One Hundred Years Of Solitude" book cover. I showed him my design ideas I've done during the holiday and he gave me some advice which one might work. At the end of the day I got my final design but still need to played around with typeface a bit more as the one I used on the book cover doesn't look right. So what I need to do now is try to get the right typeface for my book cover design.
