Specialist Pathway Fri 22/10/10

Today we have presentation with James for our Design Museum Poster design. I was the first person to do the presentation but I felt fine with it, as I started off talking about my research then how I developed my ideas to the final one. Then at the end James spotted a fews mistake on my poster as the negative space "Y" wasn't in the same size as the rest of the letters and the word "HELVETICA" should move up a bit more. I think I could do better but I quite happy with the outcome though.

Specialist Pathway Wed 20/10/10

I did develop my poster design and tried to get everything right and I showed it to melcum. He spotted something which is I need to make it right which is the word "Helvetica" has to be line up with the "Y" from the word "TYPE". After I done that then I'm ready to print out on A2 paper and get ready for Presentation on Friday. Then when we started Oli's lesson, he introduced new brief to us which we have to design 50 cards on the website during the reading week and also he asked us to design a self identity logo and he showed us example of self identity by using monogram which I found it quite interesting to me.

Specialist Pathway Tue 19/10/10

I was talking to Melcome about my Design Museum Poster design and he said I still need to sort out my grid and make them line up which I found it's hard for me to get it right though. Also he said I need to make a decision for my final one and tired to work on A2 size and see what it looks like. So I tried it on A2 and tried to make the grid right and get ready to show him tomorrow before the Presentation on Friday with James.

Specialist Pathway Fri 25/10/10

Today we were with James and continue doing our Design Museum Poster project. I was talking to James about my poster design and I still having problem with layout and grid that I need to work on it more. Also James told me to play around with the word "Helvetica" and the quote, tried in different places and what it's like.

Specialist Pathway Wed 13/10/10

Today Oli asked us to bring a scrap book and stick whatever you like into it. So I stuck Man United pictures, Beckham, My football boots and my Football design in my scrap book. Then he gave us a brief to design cards and also he asked us to choose 10 brands or logo you like. Then do your own design. Also he asked us to do some research for cards as well.

Today I was speaking to Malcome about my "TYPE" poster and he said my grid wasn't right. So he asked me to change and also he looked at the design which is work the best and asked me to develop on it, which I found it quite difficult to understand about the grid. I think I have to learn more about the grid though.

Specialist Pathway Fri 08/10/10

We were with James today, We were continuing with our TYPE poster project and then everyone would have a short talk with James about their work. When I was talking with James, he told me which one he likes and which one he likes to see me develop it on, which I found very useful as I understand more and what he expected my work to be like. So I move on to develop the one he asked me and play around with it to get more ideas. Then I would chose the one I like the most and develop it to the final one.

Today we were with Oli and last week he asked us to think of ten words and bring five objects. So I came up with:

Then Oli gave us a task to design a A2 poster by using those ten words which I found it quite difficult but at the end I found the designed to define myself though. Then for next week Oli asked us to stick any pictures that you like in the book. Then he will give us a task to do.

Specialist Pathway Mon 05/10/10

Today I was talking with Malcum about my research and my design ideas. Malcom said I need to do more research as my design idea wasn't right yet. Then he asked me to look up on Swiss Graphic Design and Max Huber which I found Max Huber's work looks very similar to Muller Brockmann. Also I found out Helvetica base on Geometrical grids and lines which I have to work on it more for my poster design.

Specialist Pathway Wed 29/09/10

We were with Oli today morning. We have to printed out typeface we made during the summer project out and did one design by using the typeface you created. Even though I found it quite difficult to use the fontstruck website but I think it's very interesting and also you got your own typeface design as well. Then at the end of the day Oli asked us to think of 10 words and bring 5 objects to define yourself next week.

Specialist Pathway Fri 01/09/10

I did research for Helvetica typeface and showed the whole class what I've done for my research. Then James gave me advice by told me to look up Muller Brockmann and Benno Wissing's work which I found very interesting. Then I did more research for the type I chosen for my Type Poster and did research more example for the poster as well.
